EHA accelerates digitization of energy transition

EHA is pushing forward with digitization. A new IT infrastructure with HPE Synergy and HPE 3PAR storage is helping the energy supplier to develop digital services more quickly. It has also reduced the energy costs of its data center by 66%.

Challenge

The data center as the foundation for digitization
Since it was founded in 1998, EHA has pivoted from being a pure electricity company to a 360 energy service provider. A subsidiary of the REWE Group, the company's business model is based on the four pillars of generating renewable energies, supply, consulting, and energy data management. Today, EHA employs more than 100 people at its headquarters close to the Port of Hamburg, with about 25% of the staff working in IT.
"The energy transition and digitization are progressing at a fast pace. This has given rise to a number of great opportunities that we are ambitious about taking advantage of in order to benefit our customers," says Jan-Oliver Heidrich, one of EHA's two managing directors. Digital business processes have always been at the heart of the energy service provider's success in the market.
"From the very beginning, we have always been committed to developing efficient and streamlined procedures and that only works when you have highly standardized and automated IT processes," explains Olaf Bttner, head of IT services at EHA. This applies to both the in-house development of EHA-specific software applications and to the operation of the IT infrastructure such as storage and servers.
